Breast Cancer awareness month. Pink manicure nº 5

Heeeeello!

Quick post again, I've been busy as hell! Those are the nails I was rocking until an hour ago. I was in the mood for a delicate and sweet thing (yeah, for a contrast) so I tried a nude from Essence's new collection, Cotton Candy.
I was super impressed at first! Great opacity (this is two coats) and drying time. It changed me from Dior Ivory, and seemed a cheap and nice solution. BUT this beauty has turned into a nightmare when air bubbles started appearing after a day of wear underneath the first coat of polish. While in court today a part of it lifted and came off completely, just as if it was a false nail. So thanks Essence, I spent the rest of the morning with my hands in my pockets. So appropriate.
Have a great end of the week!

Dior Waterlily. A walk through a rose garden...

Hello there!

This is a quick post for I am writing this right before flying to a Flamenco Night with my lady friends. I am not a huge fan of it, but I figured it's just because I've never listened to good live flamenco music. So I hope anyways, which is exactly why I am giving it a chance tonight!

This weekend has been quite calm polish-wise. I've been enjoying a relaxing full manicure: Dior Waterlily. I first saw this beauty over at Jin's and instantly fell in love with it. I was a little out of budget already, so waited till I was rich again (what a joke!) and went for it. But it had been retired from sale some days before! I cried on the inside, and played my charms over the Dior lady. A week after, she had found it still un-retired in another store and had it brought to Barcelona. 1 up!
I only used two coats plus top coat here. And let me tell ya': this polish is exactly what I expect a Dior to be. Perfect formula, drying time and scent! Yes, it's a rose scented polish. Adorable! Have a peek at that subtle shimmer..! I am positive on this: I will be wearing Waterlily a few more times!

What do you think?

Anny Buttermilk Hills.

Hello!

Today's post is a simple swatch of a polish I bought long ago, tried on my nails instantly and made me fell out of love almost that quickly too. Anny Buttermilk Hills. A potentially gorgeous grey with sparse pink shimmer. But, do not be mistaken; in reality, this is a mere shimmery grey. No pink at all. Pink decided to stay inside the bottle, chillin' and bitchin'.
Now, I won't lie to you. Application was a breeze, two coats for full opacity. Average/speedy drying time. And yeah, let's be honest: the color is nice. A little bit like in the Frozen Queen style. With my skintone, that is. Sorry for the more tanned readers, we'll have to find another style for you.

BUT it still tastes like disappointment to me a year after. Swatched once, Buttermilk Hills sings "like a virgin", untouched ever since, while it collects dust on the shelf, poor thing. Anyone wanting to adopt it?

As an off-topic, here are two pictures of Discordia (specially for you, Jinny Jin). I wanted to take better pictures of her, but she's currently about to shed her skin. It's called ecdysis, and it causes the outer layers of her skin to become paler, almost milky, and her eyes to be opaque. This partial blindness causes her stress, so I try to leave her alone until it's done. In a few days she'll work herself out of this outer layer of skin and appear with her new and brighter skin. So I figure the waiting will be worth it!

See you around,

Breast Cancer Awareness month - Pink manicure nº4

Señoritas,

See, I realized with this pink manicures series that... I am not THAT much into pink after all. Yeah, I hadn't faced that fact yet because I don't wear any single color in a row that many times, so now I have to it's become obvious that my totally unsensitive and selfish inner creature would pick another color if the well-behaved part of me wasn't always in control.

For this fourth edition of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month I've picked up a quite lame combination... I needed to be able to work with it. Two coats of ChG Heli-Yum and some black flowers ^^ Cute!
Heli-Yum looks kind of red in those pictures... I am sorry for that; it is one of those in-between colors that look redder or pinker depending on the surrounding. It's rich and its application is easy peasy. The perfect red/hot pink creme IMO.

That's all for now!

Mix 'n Match

Heeeeeellow,

Today I am showing you the mani I've been rocking all this weekend, of which I can't help but be a little proud of. I had my afternoon off on Friday and unvoluntarily dedicated most of it to doing my nails. Seriously, I think I've never spent so many time on nail art EVER, and it was quite a lot of fun! I should do it more often. Take a look:
So I took a look at my inspiration archive and could not make my mind on one single design so... I picked five of them and made some sort of mix and match with them! I need to credit The Daily Nail for the index design, it's totally hers; it's so cool but time-consuming... If you try it out (you should!) as part of a manicure I totally recommend to start with it, because you'll need to wait some time between stages, so you can proceed with the rest of the manicure while building this design up.

I had a party on Friday night and some people were like: "what?! YOU did that?!" [re-thinking about it I'd answer "yeah, I can do more than procedural writs, awesome right?"] and "nah, those nails aren't yours"; even my mother felt the urge to take my hands on picture this morning. It feels daaaaaamn nice! If I was a cat right now, I'd purr badly.

Sadly, I have to take them off because tomorrow is Monday already *sobs* so I needed to immortalize them (sort of) in my little bloggy :) Hope you like them!

Recipe:
- Index: China Glaze Sea Spray, China Glaze Liquid Leather and Kiko nº 383.
- Middle: Gosh Silver, Flormar nº 385.
- Ring: China Glaze Snow, China Glaze Liquid Leather, Orly Green Apple, Sally Hansen Pacific Blue, China Glaze Heli-Yum.
- Pinky: Essie Armed & Ready, IsaDora Gold Sparkles.

Breast Cancer Awareness month - Pink manicure nº 3

Hey there,

If you've been sticking with me for a while you'll know I've been wanting to do a chained manicure for a couple of eternities now. Back then, I purchased a necklace off eBay, just to tear it apart because it was way cheaper than buying jewellery chain from a craft store. I have more chain than I will ever use, which is good. It feels safer to know I won't run out, ya know. Just in case.

So, I finally got to try chained nails for the first time, and I am so happy with the result I went a little over-excited in the weekend, looking at my nails all the time. It felt like a gothic bubblegum manicure...

I started with two coats of ChG Snow, added two coats of Nfu-Oh nº FS12 and then added the chain. Easy peasy!

Nfu-Oh nº FS12 is actually a neon, and that's exactly why my camera boycotted it. And so did Photoshop. The closer color I've been able to obtain was this one:
But for once, the pictures are doing a crappy job with the talking, so let me say this: it was like a barbie pink, extra hot and vibrant, you would expect it to glow in the dark. Even in the shade, it was so in-your-face that I think if you open the dictionnary at "Neon" you'll find a picture of this polish. The quintessence of neon.

So, I loved this edgy look, but couldn't get quite used to the bumpiness of the chains on my nails. Anyhow, I'd totally wear this again for a special occasion when I'll want my nails to really stand out. Like, always.

What do you think?

Dripping paint nail art.

Hey there,

Today I am glad to present you something I've been wanting to do for a long long time; I still wonder why I didn't give it a go earlier. Dripping polish!
Please, be easy with me: first time here. Some fingers came nicer than others, but overall it has been a win. I'll let you judge:
I know, you are wondering what was that gorgeous purple, right? [If not, take another look!]. Base is Nfu-Oh nº 64 and the drips were made using Nfu-Oh nº FS16, both courtesy of Jin
Number 64 needs a proper presentation because OMG that is one batshit crazy holo effect! That lavendar base leans on the pink side just enough to suit my dead-like skintone [Let's say immortal-like skintone, shall we?]. Wah, let's let the pictures do the talking...
Excuse the lightning, the weather wasn't in to play along with me, so I've had to use artificial lightning to expose such gorgeousness. This is two coats, no top-coat. Oh la là, right?!

Handmade jewelry.

Aloha!

What's up? I have big news: I have finished my part of the Spanish Criminal Code edition. Thus, this band weekend (starting today when I'm off work) will be my first free weekend since May. My. Gosh.
I  am excited.

Anyhow, today's a bit off-topic... I just wanted to show off two pieces of jewelry I made a while back.

The first one is a pair of earrings (clip-on):
I fell in love with those cabochons, so I bidded for a pack of ten and won it for  1. After that, I bidded for 10 pairs of clip-on round findings. Costed me 2.
So, a total cost of 3 for that pair of earrings, with tons of spare stuff.

Second in line: blue polish ring.
For this one, I bought a pack of ten clear cabochons for €2, and five ring settings for 2. I love me some eBay.
This is made with one coat of Kiko nº 270 (hex glitter) and two coats of China Glaze First Mate. Voilà!

Now I have to confess when I discovered the world of handmade jewelry I totally pillaged eBay. Then I received eleven packages in a row at work, and kept looking at my secretary with an innocent face when she repeated "you'll have to tell me what's in there, someday". But I am afraid she won't respect me anymore if I tell her, hee hee!

So expect to see more of this now that I'll have FREE TIME! (evil laugh)

Breast Cancer Awareness month. Pink manicure - nº 2.

Hello Ladies (and Gents?),

How are y'all doing? I hope you're feeling overpowered this week..!

So, let's go pink again! This is Barry M Pink Flamingo, an absolutely adorable baby pink. It covers in two easy and perfect coats, and dries super glossy. Watch out:
And just sto warm you all up on what's next, my darling Jin from Superficially Colorful sent me a package and totally spoiled me! I am so f*cking thankful that I can't even express my joy without adding some bad words :p
Here are my first Nfu-Oh and Pupa, yay! Thank you sweetie :)

Take care, have fun, be bad.

Gold zig-zags over Orly Apple Green. And hey do you know Discordia?

Heya!

How's the weekend? I hope you had at least as much relaxing time as I have had working hours. But I am glad to announce that this schedule that I have where Sunday has been the new laborable day since May is about to come to an end. Oh yeah!

So, here's the mani I have on my nails right now, and that I am sadly going to take off right after posting this... I need a work-safe mani. This is two coats of Orly Green Apple (oh! how much imagination you've put into this, Orly!) and a subtle stamping done with IsaDora whatever gold. And posing with me in two of the pictures is my flatmate, Discordia. Yay!
The mani was fun to wear, and I was complimented a few times at work (that's confusing, I was complimented at work on a non-working day... whatever). Life gets in the way? NO! I mean, what life? Hee hee.
And here's a close-up of Discordia. She's a Ghost Corn Snake, 9 months old, very well behaved and she's starting to get used to her big vivarium and me. She got to explore the house this weekend, under parental control that is. She's so small I am 150% positive I wouldn't find her back her if I lost her inside my 75m2. Poor thing.

Keep it up!
